Hi,
We are wondering what groups/facilities do when a Member of the community dies?
We do put out their picture with a candle but haven't done a "service" do others do more?
Just wondering

Also you might want to ask the hospice care group that comes into your facility they have helped me out

Hi Pam, here is a link to an article with a few ideas on how to honour the passing of a peer/friend. https://www.goldencarers.com/20-ways-to-honor-loss-in-your-community/5611/

We do a memorial service. We do a poster board of pictures of the deceased resident. We have a staff member that will sing. We have someone from our local church that comes in and speaks.
Afterwards we ask everyone to share a special memory of the deceased resident. At the end we serve cookies and punch.

We have a Chaplin from a local church that does a service for us. He contacts the family and sets a date and time. We call it a memorial. I set a picture and candle out and we turn a light on in the dining room set aside just for the moment the person dies.

Our Chaplin is considered volunteer staff, and we work closely together to go through the stages of grief with the family and residents.

Wow Angela
You are very lucky to have a chaplain come in to run the service

I know I am fortunate. I literally was here a week and needed the service, Chap. James offered to help me out and I accepted. We have been working together ever since.
