Hi what are some suggestions for books to read for lowcare book club ?

Hi Di, In my experience, short stories are rather popular with elderly people. Stories by John Steinbeck, James Herriot, Mark Twain, Alexander McCall Smith and Road Dahl. Careful with Road Dahl, he wrote some macabre short stories, not suitable for elders; however his children books are very much appreciated by adults. Look also for second hand Readers' Digest, they have some interesting stories. Good Luck.

I've had a weekly Reading session in place for the last 4 yrs for mainly low care. I usually read novels, residents choice. A chapter or 2 each session 60-75 mins. At present I am reading Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian, It was winner of the Guardian Children's Fiction Award (for secondary students)

It’s wonderful to see our clients so engaged with the puzzles and word searches. The trivia is especially popular and participants get a buzz out of getting the answers right. Golden Carers is our go-to resource on a weekly basis, and it’s rewarding to include it in our activity programs.
