Hello all,
I am a Program Servive Assistant at a Memory Care Facility. I find that the residents do much better when reading something, they also have the material. Would you recommend giving them a binder or folder for all the papers that are handed out? For travel activities, some residents have a travel binder with each country in its own section. I think this also helps with memory care to help them feel organized. Any tips on how to keep the different activity papers we hand out more organized if they ecide to keep them?

Thank you!

Melanie

Hi Melanie
You could have a separate section for each type of handout
Make sure you each section is brightly marked That gets the residents attention
You may want to have several books and keep them in a special place in the residents room so they can get them when they want
Maybe put them by the TV so they may do that instead of watching the TV

Hi again Melanie
You may want to alert the families and caregivers so that they do use the things you pass out Often family members and staff don’t know what to do with the resident after caring for them
