Covid memorial
As the 23rd of March approaches it will be a year since the first lockdown in the UK.
Myself and my management want to mark this with our residents and we were thinking about creating a planter flower arrangement and would love some suggestions of planta and flowers and coloura that have meanings like friendship, love, remembrance etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi Nicole
I think that having a base where are you put a silk flower in for each resident that passed away during Covid
Here are the meanings of some colors that you might want to use Beige symbolizes calm and simplicity. Yellow signifies joy, happiness, betrayal, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, summer, gold, philosophy, dishonesty, cowardice, jealousy, covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard and friendship. Dark Blue: Symbolizes integrity, knowledge, power, and seriousness.

Hi Nicole
Perhaps a more permanent memento of residents that have passed would be a remembrance book each page showing a picture of that resident that has passed thier life story and room for other residents to write thier message it's also a great way of mourning
I have one in place has been for 8years in a scrape book

Hi, Nicole. What a good idea. I would say that the floral arrangement could be made with live or artificial flowers depending on your budget and convenience. It would be a good opportunity to have a group of residents making silk/paper flowers as well.

Anyway, from a Psychology perspective all colors have meaning. Here are a few:

Pink denotes unconditional love and nurturing.

Magenta is a color for universal harmony, common sense, cheerful outlook on life.

Brown is a friendly color relating to security, protection, and comfort.

White is a color that implies purity, innocence, and wholeness.

Orange is associated with Autumn and earth, it represents change and creativity.

Green represents new beginnings, growth, abundance, and renewal.

Be aware that some colors represent different things in different cultures; yellow for instance in Egypt is for mourning and in Japan it represents courage.
