On the weekends in the dementia wing we do not have lifestyle staff. what dvd,s would be suitable to play in the mornings for our residents. We have dvd with birds and fish bowl etc. Looking for appropiate movie eg similiar to the Radio blue skies , series but in movie form? Any ideas

Hi Wendy, here are some movies that in my experience were
very welcomed when shown to residents.
You may borrow them from your local library or buy them online.
Residents may also enjoy music DVDs by Nana Mouskouri, Richard
Clayderman, Roy Orbison, The Seekers, Andre Rieu.

Some Like it Hot
The Sound of Music
The Pajama Game
Honeymoon on Wheels
My Fair lady
Kiss me Kate
Easter parade
The Court Jester
The Wizard of Oz

Travel movies are great also - you can go to the Travel Agents and borrow some or the Library, also shops like Cheap as Chips/Dick Smith often have good DVD's - call it ARMCHAIR TRAVEL

I find Musical movies with Doris Day or Fred Astaire are favourites. Great old songs to evoke memories

Hi you can add also the Disney movies like Lion King, then Happy Feet, as these have music great colour and lots of movement our residents love these type also as all the others that have been suggested
