Anyone have any fun themed activities for National Assisted Living week? My Sister community is doing Oscar nights...with the residents attending a different "premier" three nights next week. My ED isn't crazy about the idea and wants for me to come up with something else. So far I was thinking, A Spirit Day on Monday, Hawaiian Day on Wednesday and maybe a Carnival on Friday but I'm afraid all 3 would be too costly and out of budget. The Oscar idea is nice as it only 8 residents at a time can attend but it just repeats itself with just a different movie, definitely more cost effective.
Hey all, NAWL is coming up September 13-19 and I'm trying to plan a fun week of honoring our staff and caregivers, as well as our residents. The theme this year is "Caring is EssentiAL" so I'm thinking of mirroring an idea from one of our sister communities by having a theme for each day, "Health is EssentiAL," Nutrition is EssentiAL," etc. I'd love to see what ideas you all can provide as well! Thanks!
I see you are from the US. Are you talking about" National Assisted Living Week" which is coming up in September? You can google " Nat. Assisted Living week and it will give you this years theme and all kinds of ideas.

Hello, I'm a new activity director and I have found Golden Care to be very helpful. With National Assisted Living Week coming up next month I have been ask to put something together or staff and residents to do. I have hit a wall, I'm really not sure were to look or what to do. If anyone has an ides I would love to hear from you. Thank you.
Hi Betty, celebrating National Assisted Living Week is putting on a special day for residents and staff. If possible, an unforgettable day! You may choose either a themed party or a day filled with fun activities and games. If you choose a themed party, you will find several ideas on Golden Carers. If you wish a day filled with fun, plan two or three main activities and some smaller activities, to fill the day. For instance: You could hire a square dance group for the morning and karaoke for the afternoon. For âin betweenâ activities you could have quizzes, riddles, a drawing competition, poetry reading, a word game and more. For Karaoke, get staff involved forming duets or trio with residents, choose short, easy, and known popular melodies, and pass the microphone around e.g. Islands in a Stream is a good one (give lyrics to all in large font) . I wish you all the luck, you will be fine!
