Hi karin, I have n iPad for our residents, we have purchased a iPad pillow it is great and sits inside then residents are able to have on knees without feeling they will drop it. We purchased them from our local variety store, also purchased stylus pens this makes it easier for them to use as their fingers do not touch screen. Another connection is a lightening adaptor and HDMI cable which connects iPad to t.v. This mirror images the iPad for group sessions. Our residents love it. Hope this helps.

Gabriela, I work in a high care Dementia unit and have started a story time for residents, I take the residents to a very quiet area and we all have a cup while I read the story. I find most of the residents have become more settled and some are already asking when are we reading again. I find that many just need some company rather than an activity so the story time works.

Thanks for the input, I started to read some Grims Tales, they are short stories which held their interest, and like you Tangi I used different voices, it was magical to see their faces light up. I will look at charles Dickens and Great Expectations as well.

wanting to start a reading group for High care Dementia Patients, to help settle them in the afternoon. This group is no longer capable of reading themselves so looking at reading aloud to them. What would be appropriate books to read to them.

Very excited today, finally had approval to buy a Ipad for my residents to use during one on one session, I have downloaded a few apps that were free for a trial, the residents loved it and the facial expressions of enjoyment were just amazing,
I was wondering if anyone else using them and if so would they like to share apps they use.
Our apps we are trying are as follows:
Lets create pottery (will be purchasing residents interacted well)
Spark Art
Falling stars
Music Sparkle
Matching pairs
Life time talks (purchased - excellent reminiscence app)
Lively Silver
Fish pond
gaze- visual pictures with sound (purchased, resident really enjoyed watching and hearing rain, snow and window plus watching the fire burn- you actually hear the wood crackling)
jigsaw box (purchased - excellent can take a picture of resident then turn into puzzle... residents loved seeing their faces as the finished product)
jigsaw 123 (purchased - worked well with high cognitive impaired residents)
