Reminiscing through Storytelling

This is a great activity, have done this, I typed them all up and made them into a book, often bring them out and use it for remenicising, our residents like trying to decide whose story is who. Great memory recalling...

Hi Solange,I am an activities officer for 40 High Care residents in a nursing faciltiy and have enjoyed your site and used many ideas which have seen more smiles on my residents faces which makes my job so worthwhile and satisfying. I was wondering if you had any ideas on fun ways to run an exercise class to help with mobility and movement. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Heather

Indian Themed Commonwealth Games party!

I held our very own commonwealth games and what a great day of fun and laughter we had. Our residents competed in four events and the winners received their gold, silver and bronze medals, presented by our high care manager which made them feel even more special, they all tried so hard we even ended up having quarter and semi finals in a couple of events which made it more exciting, we finished the day with a champions luncheon and all sung stand up for our champions. Thanks for a great idea.

Halloween Table Centrepieces

Thanks for this idea, I did this with my high care residents today and they had a blast... it also gave them a chance to talk about ways they cooked pumpkin, and reciepes... I got some great ones for my family meals and most of all they had fun doing it and our facility looks very colourful as we hung our decorations from the ceiling...

The Price is Right Game

This game turned out interesting for our facility, we have three units high care dementia, low care dementia and hostel and all residents loved the price is right game. lots of discussion about products, packaging and price developed. The interesting things was that they competed against each other (there choice) and high care won, followed by low care dementia and then hostel... resident may have dementia but games like this prove they still have it.. (old saying use it or lose certainly proves true for my residents

Balloon Bean bags

I love this idea... Thanks Im going to give it a go this week, thought they would be good to use for my residents with arthritic hands and give pleasure to other resident making them for them.
