Recycled Magazine Scrapbooks

Great idea..I have used calendars from the Reject shop and they have beautiful pictures in them too and for want of floral pictures Better Homes and Gardens magazines have great ones.

Foliage & Floral Wreaths

Instead of ivy I used a pine wreath from the Christmas decorations and made some felt poppies which I had attached to red battery-operated lights...very effective and can be reused yearly for ANZAC and Remembrance Days.

This can also be done with felt or that latex rubber craft material that is available

Nursery Rhyme Game

I have also done this with pictures that I have printed from the computer and laminated. This idea is good for small groups and you can lead into reminiscing about other nursery rhymes from this. This is also a good game with any residents...especially those without dementia as you can read the reasons behind the rhymes to them and see if they agree with it.

Red Hat Society Program

I formed a Group at the Nursing home and one of the resident's wives made me some hair comb fascinators and some other fascinators using cardboard and tulle.

The ladies all had names and we asked families to get them some purple tops.

Went well for a few years, unfortunately we have to begin again as the original members have mostly passed on.

I even joined the Red Hat Society in USA and got heaps of information from them...next time I join I can wear purple as I've passed 50!!!

How to host a High Tea Party

Try the second hand shops for cups and saucers....they are quite cheap and the residents love them. Nowadays you can buy the tiered cake stands quite cheaply. I also got some sandwich plates from kmart and sourced some doilies from ebay....the residents love the effort we go to.
