I have previously done this activity...I borrowed books from the Library, checked out the second hand shop and borrowed books from around the facililty and photocopied the covers (in A3), laminated them and used them as prompts for the residents to remember...some even borrowed the books to read later. It also makes you want to read them again too...especially the children's ones.

I have also covered the wall with pictures (from the computer) of Aussie icons...too many to name here...eg Vegemite, cricket, Dame Edna, kangaroo, Uluru. Another idea I came up with was to choose a chorus of a song...in my case "Home Among the Gumtrees" and have put the words and pictures on the wall too...by Australia Day they'll all know the song...have fun

Like I said I love this quiz and have all the songs to go with it...have just been surfing the net and found some more from a website www.brownielocks.com/christmascaroltrivia.html ...much along the same lines but with different questions...now there's more songs to find. Have a great Christmas everyone.

Have just bought a polo shirt from Lowes and a felt Christmas stocking from the Reject shop and appliqued the stocking onto the polo shirt...makes an original Christmas shirt instead of wearing a t-shirt.

We've done this with different types of chocolate flavours called "Gotta Love Chocolate"...chilli flavoured chocolate as well..I had the chocolates numbered in their silver foil, so as not to let them see what ones were being tasted. We've also tried different packets of chips called "Tantalise Your Tastebuds". A request is in the pipeline for different biscuits not usually served for afternoon/morning tea. We are mindful of diets, allergies etc too. Another idea could be berries for in the summer.
Golden Carers is an exceptional resource tool for the aged care industry. I like the quality of resources and regular newsletters alerting you to updates.
