I do an evening relaxation program at my facility using relaxing dvds and music and giving the residents some 1:1 time by doing hand massages and/or feet massages. Some of the ladies like having their nails done too. Calming activities are used as well such as looking through their photo albums or animal books, I find that dvds with animals work wonders too. Pan flute music is soothing....some of the dvds that I have bought are from ISIS Visuals http://www.naturedvd.com.au and http://www.kendavismusic.com/

I have done this with the ones from Activity to Go (no longer available) and the residents loved it. I had about ten boxes with numbers on them and asked the residents to choose a number rather than a category. A very successful and fun game.

Yes colour is best...you can hunt around in the shops for books to copy from...I even got some magnifying glasses from Reject shop and they help too...

We have done this activity with the residents, but I actually took a small tent and other equipment and set it up in the activity room, the visuals gave much discussion too.

It is absolutely wonderful to see and use the combined efforts of so many of us caring for the elderly, from all over the world! This website has opened many doors to the world of the elderly, stimulating and enriching their lives and making it possible for us as Carers to bring joy and fulfillment. Thank you to Golden Carers for making all of this possible, we salute you!!
