Hi Gail
Yes a Group as you are describing can be difficult
I am sure you and others have tried to find the root of the problem behaviors
It can be difficult but if you find what causes the behavior you might be able to stop it
Otherwise do the best you can and be thankful for the good days

Hi Ranell
I’ll suggest music activities and simple exercise or combining both together
But I like music because it is mostly an auditory activity so once the residents are group members start singing it’s more about singing then being on the zoom call
Here is a list of songs that you might like to use
See what songs get the most singing and use those songs
It may change from week to week but I think music is the way to go
You may want to use songs that have emotion attached to them like marching for when the Saints go marching in etc.

How to Discipline Your Activity Staff

Hi Carolyn
I had to take a medical leave of absence
When I came back some of the staff members changed
They did not seem to do their job so I had to step in and made suggestions as to what to do
I like to have an activity bag that you can pull things out of if necessary
This article should help her

Hi Jean
First if you want to people people activities you have to make sure that you have social distancing and residents need to wear masks
For exercise try some of these
Here are some of the covid 19 ideas
I think you need to have a memorial service to honor all the residents who passed away during the COVID-19 crisis
I think you need to see who comes in see what their likes dislikes and needs are before you could make a Calendar that would be valid for most

Hi Helen
You may have to have multiple retirement parties because he may forget that he had them
You could try displaying the watch so he sees it and perhaps put a card that says good luck in your retirement
What you could do about getting paid
Have a family member give you some extra money and then you could write checks to him from that money
He could then cash the checks but you have to keep it to a reasonable amount of money and perhaps he could have a special account that you could show him instead of him caring around money

What is the purpose of her using the iPad
Is it keep her busy??
Is it to increase her cognition??
It sounds like an app about politics
Item not know what politics are in their country but their must be an app for that
Maybe she can use the notepad to write comments
Maybe she could join Facebook and express her opinions

Hi Linda
Here are some ideas
Oh I like dot painting
Instead of printing these templates out by some dark paint and a craft store of printing these templates out by some dot paint at a craft store and put a piece of paper in front of each resident with a paint and see what they create
If you can’t find dot paints you can use bingo Dobbers
You can adapt and modify any of these activities to make them simple are you could have a simple party and sing happy birthday to Australia
