Indoor Gardening for Seniors

Indoor Gardening for Seniors
1 83

Indoor gardening is a simple and rewarding activity where residents can plant seeds in small pots and care for them as they grow.

What You'll Need

  • Small plant pots
  • Soil
  • Spoons
  • Tray
  • Seeds
  • Labels
  • Markers

Instructions

  • Arrange a table with all the materials within easy reach.
  • Invite each resident to fill their plant pot with soil using a spoon.
  • Guide them in placing a few seeds into the soil and covering them lightly with more soil.
  • Explain the care each type of plant will need, like watering and sunlight requirements.
  • Help residents label their pots with their name, the type of plant and the date it was planted. This adds a personal touch and helps track the growth progress.
  • Using a small watering can or a cup, assist residents in gently watering their newly planted seeds. Remind them not to overwater.
  • Place pots in a sunny spot. If space allows, set up a dedicated indoor garden area.
  • Encourage residents to check on their plants regularly and water them as needed.
