Hi everyone out there in the best job in the world,
Could I ask if anyone has organised a celebration for a long term resident, we have a lady who has been with us for 20 years she is still quite active and completely cognitive even though she is confined to a wheelchair.
Any celebration and decoration ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would say this depends on what the resident likes
Does she like big groups or small groups
Does she have family or are you her family?
It is always great to have food at a celebration
What is her favorite food?Does she like music and entertainment
Does she have a favorite performer that comes to your facility?
With all these things considered, I would have some kind of a party, featuring her favorite food and music. At the time of the day she likes.
Making her feel special is great. Get the other residents to make a card to give to her and attend a special afternoon tea for her.
