Hi, I am new to Golden Carers. I am loving it. It has helped a lot in my activity department.

I am putting a Hoe Down day on my September Calendar.

Does anyone have any ideas I can use. It's my first time throwing a Hoe Down.

Hi Bridget

I have never done this, but it sounds like a parly with a lot of lively dancing

Are your residents able to do this?

Perhaps you could hire an entertainer

Perhaps you can invite a square dancing group

If you can't do that, then get a video or play lively music

This might be a good thing to ask the golden carer Facebook group

Not sure where in Ontario you are but I hired Triple C Farms to do a petting zoo, we also play country music and played fall fair games.

Hi Bridget

I LOVE doing this event. We decorated our main dining room with different western decorations....created a stage area, with hay on the floor and a saw horse with a saddle on it for our entertainer. We used wagon wheels, ropes, hay bales just to name a few for decorations. We uses checkered table cloths and served drinks from mason jars. our centerpieces were jars with sunflowers in them.

Hope this helps...

I love this website especially the "This day in History" series. They are fantastic for my newsletter that I put out every month.
