I just love this website. I feel like every time I get on here, I stay on forever. I am always finding something new to try out on our residents. Thank you!

Hi everyone!!
HELP!
Over the past 6-8 months we have really has a rise in a younger population (50-60) most with a short term rehab stay planned but they really don't want to come out for activities or socialize with others. A lot of this has been the mentality since Covid where some people kind of learned to do things on our own and developed a disinterest in group activity or people in general. It makes our job in activities feel a bit discouraging and defeated at times when we are seeing such a low attendance. Obviously, we 1:1 and provide in room activities as much as possible but it seems no matter how much encouragement or types of activity we offer these residents would rather stay in their rooms and don't want to engage as they say it makes them feel like they are "long-term residents, and don't belong in a nursing home yet."
I am working on developing a new area geared towards this younger population to spend time and relax and be with others that have the same ability and interests in hopes that this will help with at least getting people out of there rooms. Figured I would put this out there to see if I could get some ideas or input as I am guessing we aren't the only facility seeing the changes. We are new to Golden Carers and are so excited to explore and utilize all of the resources available.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi again Lyndsey
I find with this group Or any group really is to get ideas from them
Explain to them that socializing is very important for improving their overall well-being and will help them get better quicker
Greetings again, Lyndsey
You may want to have a party similar to this, but may be updated to the residents wishes and you can ask them what they want to do
