Hi! My facility is a 55+ community and assisted living, although they are very physically and cognitively with it for their ages! I am looking for suggestions of bingo prize ideas. We use the bingo buck system, each game they win they receive one bingo buck and then at the end of the month we have an auction with items they can "buy" with their bucks. They are very tired of the typical body wash, lotion, candy, and signs for their doors. Scarves, socks, hats and gloves have never worked out very well for me either and I am getting a teeny bit frustrated with it. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I switched up bingo & got rid of prizes. We have a pizza party at the end of the month. Residents don't mind not getting prizes. They just like to play.

Hi Alexis,

We have a Country Store in a room and the residents use their Bingo Bucks to go shopping and buy things. I usually go to the dollar store or Walmart or other stores that offers cute things cheap. I have gone to clothing stores and shop the clearance isle and get shirts and other items for super good deals. things for $5 dollars and under. I carry lots of goodies that they residents have said they would like to have there. Twinkies are by far the favorite.

The dollar store always has holiday and decorating things for $1.25 or at the most $3. I buy simple craft ideas they can do in their rooms over the weekend. Room air fresheners are always a huge hit. body spray for the women. Eye glass cleaner is another one we go through a lot.

Once a month I open the country store for them to go shopping and many are waiting at the door for it to open.

I have also gone to stores and asked if they are willing to donate things. Or posted on Facebook and many times people will bring things in for the store. One thing though, with food and candy items watch the expiration dates. If they are getting close, then I will use them for prizes for other games to get them used up before they expire.

Hope this helps you. :)

Alexis,

Another idea I do is go buy fresh donuts on the day the country store is open, that is a big hit.

Do your resident like coloring? Mine love color by number so I get some color by number books or print some off and make a book. I print papers of puzzles and make a "book" of about 7-10 pages and they can buy those as well. I offer markers and crayons as well.

Decks of playing cards, boxes of puzzles.

The tiny cans of pop or soda is a huge hit. Small stuffed animals for them to buy for the grandkids. I have some that really like to crochet so I get yarn.

I have packaged bird seed, enough for one bird feeder.

Just about anything. Coupons for them to get a root beer float from the kitchen. Or have a drive-in and they can "buy" an ice cream treat.

Just a few of the things I do.
