Hello I am new to this website, so correct me if I am using this the wrong way.

I had a question, if there is a resident that wants to be on their own most of the time and refuses most suggestions for activities what is the best course of action for activities? Thank you!

Hi, Haley

If you have tried all the suggestions, make sure you write a good note about how they want to rather do independent activities and make sure when there is inspection that they are able to state this

If a resident has the strength and desire to direct their own leisure preferences, I care plan that. Make sure to provide regular 1:1's to try to build rapport with the resident and to check in to see if they want anything (music, reading materials, puzzles, etc.) . It can be beneficial to keep inviting and encouraging a resident knowing they will give you a declination as long as it is not upsetting them to be asked. Some people are just content to sit in their rooms, watching T.V., reading, looking out the window, or napping. It may not be ideal, but if that is their stated preference, you are unlikely to get them to deviate far from their preferred patterns and behaviors.
