Our residents play this game often as they really enjoy it. Our activities team developed a long list of questions to challenge and support our residents memories. When we started, residents could name two or three and now they are confidently rattling off more than 5 at times. It is a good game to foster a supportive atmosphere where residents can 'ask a friend ' if they are stuck but sometimes you have to gently discourage certain residents from shouting out for every question! Carers who join us in their spare moments have also said 'I love this game' .
Hi, I would love your suggestions on how you discourage those residents who answer every question. Thank you.
We use this as a time filler and once warmed up to it the elders suggest the categories. I also use it between games of bingo. My groups love bingo but adding a 'give me 5' gets them thinking in a different way.
That is a great idea Nikki
Thanks for sharing
Hi everyone
Just wanted to say that I am so pleased that I found you, I don’t work in a residential home but am a volunteer for our over 60’s lunch club in our village. I am the allocated driver for folks that can’t make their own way to the club, I help out anywhere I am needed. I am, also the nominated entertainment organiser which is where Golden Carers comes into the equation. You have given me so many ideas, the bingo games are just great and so are the quizzes. You have opened up for us such a lot of fun and laughter which is what it’s all about. I can highly recommend you to all residential and nursing homes, you offer such good help and advice. Thank you keep it coming,
Warmest regards to you all
Rosemarie
Thank you so very much for your feedback Rosemarie, this is so much appreciated!
This a a great game, on Tuesday and Thursday at our senior center we play "Thanks for the memories" (memory/brain games). This is game is perfect to help our clients with recall memory because it always trigger a wonderful memory of a deceased loved one that they can share with the group.
You're very welcome! All the best - Rose
THANK YOU!
