Hi all, With covid19 regulations in place, what is everyone doing for Mothers day? It is usually our biggest day/event of the year with a huge luncheon for visiting families. I have had the theme organised since mothers day last year "Lavender & Lace" and purchased everything ready to go. Now our residents are having all meals in their rooms and family restricted to 2 visitors per day with 15 min each visit. I will do up lovely placemats and gift and little vase of flowers (breaking down the big bunches I purchased to use as table centerpieces) on their lunch trays. I thought we may be able to organize with some families to do zoom sessions, taking bookings for times as we've just taken delivery of 5 ipads to use. Extra staff perhaps to assist the ladies with doing their hair/makeup etc. Such challenging times I thought we could brainstorm a few ideas. Cheers Kim

It sounds like you’re doing a great job and have some fabulous ideas

You can always adapt and modify some of these activities on golden Carers

https://www.goldencarers.com/calendar/mothers-day-activities/19/

I’d like to make cards for the residents

I like to tell them why they are a good person and if you can get some thing good about them from their family or if you know them well you can include that I like to tell them why they are a good person and if you can get some thing good about them from their family or if you know them well you can include that

You can also say whether you were a mother or not you had a mother and I’m sure you were a wonderful child

Even if family members do not use technology they still have a phone so make sure that they call their loved one sometime during the day and you can even find out what time that might be so they will be ready for the call

You can also have the celebration at sometime later during the year

You could combine Mother’s Day and Father’s Day

And if that doesn’t work Mother’s Day father’s Day and grandparents day

You should remind families to buy their loved one A practical gift such as

Also suggest that grandchild and rob them pictures or make them cards to brighten up their room

They can mail these cards so no coronavirus is on them

Again thank you for all you do
