We have a weekly activity called 'chit chat'. It starts with a coffee & snack, and then a singalong with a visitor/ a travel dvd/ a guest speaker etc. Its becoming increasingly difficult to fill the calendar - anyone have anything similar to share? There is usually about 50 attending
Hi Kymberly, Social interaction to promote communication is a valuable activity. You may change the structure a little by adding a riddle, quiz, cooking demonstration, or Karaoke session. You may also add a few themed talks to the calendar; here is a link you can use:

Don’t forget you may have guest-speakers among your facility’s staff. If you have staff from other cultures invite them to talk about their countries for a few minutes and answer questions, Filipinos, Chinese, Africans, Maoris, Vietnamese, and other countries.
