Activities Coordinator/Palliative & End Of Life Care
Hi, I wondered if anyone could offer me any tips and suggestions for supporting patients with suitable activities who are end of life. I've recently applied for the role of Activities Coordinator at the hospice where I currently work as a Nursing Assistant. My interview is next Wednesday, and I'd be extremely grateful for your shared ideas

As a therapeutic musician I strongly recommend various genres of music. Music of the residents youth, hymns(if religious), holiday, patriotic, various styles, tempos. It doesn't all have to be slow and quiet. Perhaps easy songs to sing a long with resident while lightly tapping the rhythm on their hand or bed. Other options, have a live Therapeutic musician play bedside or keep a collection of favorite CD's in the room for visitors to choose various styles. Music is very powerful and is a way to reach deeply being a wonderful comfort.
I would like to thank you all for everything you've done to help people like us, giving us the new ideas and confidence to carry on doing what we do. As you must be aware it's not the easiest job in the world, especially trying to get a smile out of someone. I wish you all the possible good wishes for the future and do hope you will continue for many years to come.
