Hi, our residents have been asking for us to purchase a coffee machine for them to use to make themselves a "good" coffee. Does anyone out there have a coffee machine in their facility that residents use with success? We are keen to purchase on but want to make sure it is easy to use and makes good coffee. Cheers
Hi Kathy, We have had a coffee shop for a one month trial, we made the coffee for residents. We make delicious home made little pop cakes in the kitchen to have with their coffee. We charge $2 a cappuccino and 3 cakes, all the money goes back towards items for residents. We are going to purchase a pod machine from Aldi's, our long term goal is for residents to be able to make their own. However the residents have all really enjoyed sitting around chatting over their coffee.

To Kathy re: Coffee machine We have one from the Blue Pod Cffee Company. it's supplied free providing you purchase 100 pods per month. We do that easily in our facility between residents and staff. The pods cost $1.00 each. It's sel-funding because we charge $2.00 cup and the profit pays for biscuits to go with the coffee etc. The extra profit pays for other things for the residents lifestyle needs. It's Lavazza coffee which is very nice. We get the Cafe Crema which the residents prefer.
Golden Carers is an exceptional resource tool for the aged care industry. I like the quality of resources and regular newsletters alerting you to updates.
