Are you an activity professional working with the elderly?


Golden Carers is looking for people working in the field to write articles for us.

Since 2009, Golden Carers has been providing articles and activity ideas for activity coordinators working in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

If you feel that you have valuable experience that you can contribute to our audience, we'd love to hear from you. You must be capable of conveying information in a friendly and compelling way. You must have a strong desire to produce quality content with actionable advice - a lesson or new piece of knowledge that readers can apply after reading the content.

What type of content do we publish?

Golden Carers is a subscription website, whereby members pay a yearly fee to access our content. We publish and release new content every week on our newsletter, which includes activities, articles, monthly calendars, and more.

Our articles cover a wide range of topics influencing senior care including dementia care, sensory programs, reminiscing activities, male specific programs, etc.

We produce the following kinds of articles:

  • Quick Tips (200 - 600 words): These articles are shorter and simple with a focus on implementing a specific approach or fulfilling a specific need.

  • Articles (300 - 1000 words): These articles cover a broad range topics as described above and are designed to provide new ideas and offer support for people working in the field.

Submission Guidelines

How to Pitch:

It must have the following:

  1. Title of the article
  2. A sentence explaining why the article is important
  3. A short description of what the article is about
  4. The category it best fits under (Dementia, For Men, etc.)
  5. Word Count and Format (Quick Tip / Article)
  6. Optional: Samples of your writing (if you have any – we welcome first time writers too)

Please ensure that you have looked through our article archives beforehand to avoid pitching an article idea that we have already covered. This can be done using the search on our site, or use Google.

You can also suggest rewrites/revivals of articles that you feel require updating. If so, please link the current article in your email, along with ways you will update the piece.

Once the pitch meets these standards, our team will review it to see if it suits Golden Carers.

If we like what we read, we will reply to your email and move forward with the next stages.

Tips for Writing Articles

Reading content online is different to reading printed content. Here are some guidelines for ensuring your content can be easily digested:

  • Use short paragraphs
  • Use sub headings
  • Use bullet points and lists
  • Use simple and clear language

Review Process

Our editors will assess your work to ensure all of the articles on Golden Carers are of the highest standard and adhere to a similar structure. We will provide feedback and may ask for changes if necessary.

Your article will be formatted inline with our design guidelines and a hero image will be created and inserted before publication.

Plagiarism

Please don't copy other people's work, we will use tools to check articles are original.

Feel free to cite other sources with a link to the original content, or add the author’s name in brackets.

Publishing on your own website

Content: If you have written an article for us, feel free to publish a short excerpt along with a link to the full version, for example "This post was originally published [link to full article on Golden Carers]. For anything else, please seek permission first.

Artwork and Design: The design and artwork used in Golden Carers articles is copyrighted and may not be republished without permission.
