Hi I work in a small country town with a close knit community. After a recent incident I wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to discuss end of life plans with clients and families and how to indicate clearly on their file if they have a DNR?
Hi Alison, in my experience the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) is usually stated in the “Resident’s Profile” which is filled in by the resident or his/her family on arrival. It may also contain other plans for the end of life such as preferred Funeral Company, religious rites, ACP (Advance care Planning), and other related issues.
I just recently joined this site also and let me tell you it is WONDERFUL!!!! I am an activity director at a senior center and not only do our older seniors enjoy it but we also have a group respite program geared towards participants with dementia and Alzheimer's, that respond really well to the trivia/quizzes that the website offers. I am so thankful to have this site as a resource to assist with enhancing their quality of life!
