I'm looking to study a course in Aged Care, however I'm not sure where to begin. I'm located in Vic and saw that there will be free TAFE courses from 2019 in this article:
Hi Olivia, I called about a dozen aged care homes and asked where they like to hire people from (ie, which course they think is the best) and a lot recommended LASA (Leading Aged Care services Australia) through the University of Melbourne. The course was brilliant and the teachers were really inspiring. I highly recommend. The only thing was that you had to have a job in the industry already (!) as you need to be mentored throughout the course by your boss. I went for a job without any experience and was accepted and can't recommend it enough. Hope that helps!!
Thank you Golden carers for all the great ideas. My residents really enjoy the quizzes and some of the craft activities. They especially want "This day in history". I try to make it a morning ritual after the newspaper reading. This month there are so many great ideas for St Patrick's day, many I have printed off to use. I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy St Patrick's day. Here is my beautiful cat, she is much more photogenic than me!

Has anyone here studied a Certificate IV in Ageing Support? Were you able to get work easily?

Give that a go!
