Hi all, I just thought I'd share my ideas for celebrating Indian inderpendance day in our home. We are very fortunate that we have a large number of staff from India here. I asked some of the carers if they would help me create an authentic indian celebration. We are going to get as many staff as possible to dress in traditional indian clothes, a group Indian carers have offered to make lots of foods to try and teach us traditional dances, we will dress the room in indian travel pictures and flags. Everyone is very excited about it already which is lovely. We did a similar Scottish day as we have a number of Scottish resisdents and staff and that was a huge hit.
Indian food is so tasty and the colour and texture of the traditional clothing is really lovely. I think it will be a day that many of your residents will enjoy.
Thank you so much for such an awesome resource and to everyone for sharing their ideas. It takes the pressure off and allows more time to be spent with the ones we are caring for who after all need our time more than anything else. I am looking forward to reading as much as I can get my hands on and finding ways to improve the lives of our valuable community members and bring some sunshine in. Much appreciated :)
