Hi, we have a 69 resident facility with one recreation facilitator. I am looking for ideas for a Christmas program. Those who have assembly, what are some thing you do besides music, and poems. We have a memory tree for residents who have passed. We have secret Santa, but we do that on Christmas morning. Just looking for something different to do at an assembly.

Hey Michelle
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner
Same thing we always did was to have a resident choral group
I let any residents who wanted to join
They did not have to have a good voice
For Christmas they picked out Carol‘s they wanted to sing
We practiced for about a month
Then we had a family T and the resident choral group performed
We served finger sandwiches and desserts along with tea and coffee
The resident choral group
performed three other times throughout the year and we always had a tea to go along with their performance
We invited family members and elders who live in the community to join us
This activity is so good and so many levels
If you want more information about it please let me know
There are other Christmas activities you could do
Christmas crafts
A Christmas pantomime

Let me know if you need more ideas or are interested in the resident choral group
