Good Morning, I am a director of Memory Care for a long term company and I have two female residents that continuously wander around. So far our attempts at getting them to engage in activities are very short lived. They often wander into others rooms, which can cause issues at times. Does anyone have suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Hey Gretchen Can be a difficult situation Have you tried a walking club Would need a volunteer or staff member to accompany the residents Some residents just like to wander so as long as they are safe and fairly steady on their feet you could just call the activity a walking club Hopefully you can get someone to help you Maybe some other residents will be interested in walking too Then you could ask trivia questions or sing as they are walking Article could be helpful too https://www.goldencarers.com/wandering-and-dementia/5349/
I appreciate how accessible everything is to create worthwhile, mind-opening, engaging absolutely wonderful activities for our friends. Our calendars are overflowing with so much variety their is something for everyone, every day. Thank you so much for helping me to create days that always bring something for everyone to look forward to. They are engaged, active, laughing and living life to its fullest because of you there are endless possibilities.
