Hello! I need some help. I work in an assisted living center with about 64 residents. we couldn't celebrate the holidays like we usually do, due to us being on lock down we have finally reopened, and they are upset about not being able to celebrate. I want to have some sort of celebration with prizes but have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me?
I have had a lot of success doing a prize giving day with party snacks and presenting those residents who have made a contribution to your community with a certificate. Eg I have a lady who tries to take 1 or 2 cups to the kitchen to be washed, another who is quick to befriend new residents when they come in, 1 who always joins in the exersize session, 1 who is passionate about watering the plants in the lounge. They all have dementia so don't always do a great job but they are trying. Many of the family members saw the certificates and passed positive comments.
I love this site, there is always an idea, quiz or craft that I can use or modify for my programs. After 35 years as an Activation Coordinator/Senior Facilitator, I am now semi-retired and running programs for individuals and small groups on Zoom (Mind Challenge/Theme Conversations & Your Story).
Love the forum idea and can see it being a real support to each other - wonderful to see the smiling faces, caring and positive attitudes that this field endangers!
Congratulations and thanks to the Golden Carers Team for a professional and well designed website that is internationally useful and user friendly!
Great idea
