Hi Everyone, I find this site so very encouraging. Does anyone have a template for a consent form for pet therapy. I am also looking for policies and procedures for pet therapy. Regards Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, you can find an article about Pet Therapy in Nursing homes on this link: https://www.goldencarers.com/activities/pet-therapy/pet-therapy-in-nursing-homes/ Regarding a template for a consent form; the only consent you need to start a pet therapy is from your management. Regarding residents, unless they want a pet in their room with them I don’t think you need consent. You would need consent if the wishes of the residents clashes with the wishes of their families.
Dear Solange, Thank you very much for the reply, it is good to hear what others are doing in regard to pet therapy as it does have so many benifits.

Hi Jennifer, I have been in Lifestyle for 7 years and my adorable Jack Russel Toby has come to work with me Mon-Fri for 6 of my 7 years. He has been a Pet Therapy dog over 3 Nursing Facilities, he has given much love and company and also received it back! Unfortunately Toby went to Heaven at age 10 on March 2 this year. He left behind a lot of sad family and residents and a trail of tears. So it does have its negatives, because, they like us do have to die in time. However, I can tell you for a fact that the positives outweigh the negatives. Enjoy every minute. Best of luck, Trish (DT)
I cant rate this site high enough. The activities and ideas are fantastic, varied and very relevant to our service. I log on every morning to see what's new and I'm always printing and using your materials. Honestly the best site I know of to provide activities for older people.
