Thank you for your kind comment Janet. It is a good sign that you are enjoying your course. I'm sure you will be a great leisure coordinator. Good Luck!
Yes, Stephanie, some facilities are quite strict about it. In our facility we also have a pamper session and we use an aroma therapy mixture made in-house by an Aroma Therapist. It is rather nice. Staff must use rubber gloves to apply it.
That's right Diane. When I worked for the RSL we played with 12 cards. However if you work in a facility where most residents are fragile (high care) it is too difficult for them to turn the cards. Thanks for the tip on the crossword grid.
You can also use discarded game tokens, or children's wooden building blocks; as long as they have a fair size so that if placed in the mouth there no danger of choking.
Hi Jessica, most TAFE colleges have DT courses in Queensland. Ring one of them and ask them to send you the information booklet. You can choose to do the Certificate IV or the Diploma.
Thank you for your feedback and the nice photo. I also use mosaic activities and they are becoming rather popular in our facility. It is a good idea to do on an old piece of furniture; we usually do it in terracotta pots and then plant some foliage in it. Each participant gets to keep the terracotta pot to take to their bedrooms.
