Active Monopoly

I've just realised that I made a mistake with the property cards. they still have our local street names instead of the monopoly street names. Sorry for that everyone, If would advise just putting a sticker over each name and writing in the correct name.

5 Fun Technology Activities for Residents

We have done the whole virtual world tour with Google Earth and at the moment I'm planning a "Tech Day" so thanks so the ideas. I'm thinking of using the game GeoGuessr for something interesting.

Playing Cards: All-Inclusive Games for Seniors

I'm sure we are all aware of the game SNAP, well one of our group members taught us her variation, it's called Animal Grab. Instead of snapping the cards, at the start of the game everyone chooses an animal noise then when a pair comes up you yell out your animal noise. It is very fun and everyone laughs a lot because most people, staff included forget their animal in the heat of the moment and end up yelling the wring sound.

Thanks for the card game ideas.

Mixed Media Collages for the Elderly

We completed our collage and entered It in our local show. The group won 2 prizes for a total of $75. We did a bottle tree with individual canvases to symbolise the individuals within the group, The name of the group (by popular vote) is The Bottle Tree Wanderers so we thought a Bottle Tree was quite appropriate.

Thanks for the great idea

Creative Button Tree

These are fun, we made some last year with our group. We used flat backed canvases so that is was easy for our clients to glue the buttons on. Great activity for any skill level!

Party Themes for Dementia Care

I forgot to update you on our picnic last year! We had a lot of fun just chatting and having lunch together unfortunately it was a bit hot for our outdoor games I had planned so this year I'm planning another one a little earlier on in Spring.

How to Support Mentally Alert Clients in Mixed Group Environments

I really find one of the best things for our more Mentally Alert Clients can be to have them assist the others, or even get them helping out with the activity. That way they really feel that they are contributing and (For lack of a better phrase) not being "lumped in" with all the others. I have also developed some great find a words that are 'hard', 'harder' and 'hardest'.
