We performed this pantomime yesterday for our residents and relatives Christmas party, we didn't have to spend a lot of money on props, we used old sheets from the facility and old hospital cover ups and towels for turbans which we decorated with a little Christmas bling, we had a few staff members involved and for the belly dance we had hula hoops and grass skirts and pulled 5 relatives from the audience, everyone laughed, we all forgot our words and improvised but it was a great show and the residents loved it. Thanks for this great idea.
I use doll therapy at my facility, one man who has since passed away used to sit and cuddle the doll in the evenings, it stopped him roaming the hallways, he thought it was one of his grandchildren. He would rock and sing to her, I found doll therapy to be very successful with him, it curbed his behaviors. Nurture therapy is a great term, but i haven't had any negative feedback from other staff or residents families at this stage, so will continue with our 'Doll therapy'.
I appreciate how accessible everything is to create worthwhile, mind-opening, engaging absolutely wonderful activities for our friends. Our calendars are overflowing with so much variety their is something for everyone, every day. Thank you so much for helping me to create days that always bring something for everyone to look forward to. They are engaged, active, laughing and living life to its fullest because of you there are endless possibilities.
