Dear Haley, Thank you for this excellently written article! You've covered very well, what can be hidden issues, for eg., how introverts tend to respond and how extroverts can feel lonely because, even though they're interacting, they may be sad that family aren't visiting or that there isn't any family anymore. I also really appreciated the attention to those who cannot get out of their beds/room without full-support.
Fabulous ideas! Thank you for presenting them in such a well-organized way! I've already collected several items which would be the basis for a "Something To Do Cart". You've provided ideas for additional things to include. I'd not thought of using a cart for the many one-on-one's that I do. Unfortunately, the activities director is of no help. You folks out here on Golden Carers are my mentors. As a budding activities assistant, I'm ever so grateful and gratified to see things working for the residents I care for.
Golden carers has helped improve my role as Engagement and activities practitioner, so many great ideas and activities available. This page has made my life so much easier, when I'm stuck for my own ideas i head over have a look what's new and a whole new world opens up. I have used Golden carers everyday since being in my new role, its amazing. Thank you to everyone that contributes.
