I have been having issues with caregiver support and engagement. I was looking to get feedback from other Life Enrichment Coordinators about their relationship with caregivers and how they help or support you during activities. Many activities are supposed to be run by caregivers, which allows me to work on the calendar, planning other activities, etc. However, caregivers have not been following the schedule or helping with activities when asked. I'm at a loss for what to do because I love my job, but I need support and assistance from caregivers that I'm not getting. I also feel like I'm not taken seriously because I'm young, but I don't want to be the bad guy telling everyone what to do - I just need them to understand that I need support too.
My advice is to ask them for suggestions. If they choose the activities that they like, they are more apt to do them. The activities have to be appropriate. If they suggest activities that you feel are inappropriate, then give them a choice of two or three appropriate activities. See which one they like best. Use their suggestions on the activity calendar. Maybe you can use one or two of the caregiver's names as part of the activity suggestion. Example Mary's Happy Sing along Trivia with Beth Have a meeting with the caregivers to get their input here is ahttps://www.goldencarers.com/what-to-include-in-a-staff-meeting/5106/n article I wrote about staff meetings Use the parts of it you think are appropriate for you. If this does not work, which I am pretty sure it will, talk about disciplinary action
I just renewed my membership and going into my second year. When I got the notification that my first year was expiring, I knew I had to renew, there was no doubt in my mind. GoldenCarers is PRICELESS! As a DJ and mobile entertainer for over 38 years much of my business is with assisted living facilities and GoldenCarers has taken it above and beyond my competition. It always has something useful and too many to point out. I could no imagine running my business without GoldenCarers. You guys ROCK!
