We run the Open Door Memory Cafe in Blackburn, Lancashire UK, so we aren’t in a residential setting. It’s the 3rd birthday of the memory cafe next month, and we’re wondering about playing party games. We are of course having a birthday cake and a musical session! We’ve put a quiz together with questions relating to the number 3, but we did wonder about some party games. Have you any suggestions for these? They can’t really be very active games, and I really don’t want to patronise our lovely guests. Any suggestions for what works well for you would be very welcome! Thank you! Elizabeth
Once again Golden Carers has come to the rescue. I live in a retirement village and calling on my years as a Diversional Therapist I constantly use the Golden Carers for new ideas to run my group in the village. I especially love the Read Aloud Audience Participation activity and I always pick a very shy resident to take a part. It is amazing how much it brings them out of their shell. The quiz always helps keeps their minds active and gives them such a feeling of self worth when they get a correct answer.
