A Perfect Rose

By Annabel Sheila

You are always that soft shoulder
When I need a place to lay my head.
You are the one who blocks the punches
Life constantly seems to throw at me.
Where there are dark shadows
There is always the light of your love.
When the world is a tempest
You give me sunshine and blue skies.
No matter how much it rains
You bring rainbows to my windowsill.
Every time I stumble, you steady me
And give me the courage to move forward.
There have been times when I would have given up,
But you insisted we walk together, hand in hand.
I need you to know, that not a day goes by
When I don't appreciate all that you are.
You helped me become who I am,
And for that, my precious love,
I am extremely grateful.
Your love has  been a lifeline in stormy seas,
And it has always been a haven to me.
A soul mate is like a perfect rose
That blooms forever in your garden,
You, my love, are that rose
And my garden has never been more beautiful.

To Be In Love

by Gwendolyn Brooks

To be in love
Is to touch with a lighter hand.
In yourself you stretch, you are well.
You look at things
Through his eyes.
A cardinal is red.
A sky is blue.
Suddenly you know he knows too.
He is not there but
You know you are tasting together
The winter, or a light spring weather.
His hand to take your hand is overmuch.
Too much to bear.
You cannot look in his eyes
Because your pulse must not say
What must not be said.
When he
Shuts a door-
Is not there_
Your arms are water.
And you are free
With a ghastly freedom.
You are the beautiful half
Of a golden hurt.
You remember and covet his mouth
To touch, to whisper on.
Oh when to declare
Is certain Death!
Oh when to apprize
Is to mesmerize,
To see fall down, the Column of Gold,
Into the commonest ash.

How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43)

By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Valentine's Day

Anon

For a sweetheart or a friend
There's just no better way
To show how much you care for them
Then a gift on Valentine's day.

It doesn't have to be expensive
A simple card will do
As long as you put your heart into it
And show that it's really from you.

Share the love with family or with friends
Tell them in your own way
Let them know you really care
Make every day Valentine's Day.

A wonderful tool for anyone who wants to use activities for the elderly. In residental or independent living. I am a registered DT and use it on a daily basis, I encourage the team to use it as well. The planning is already done so helpful and stress free. Why wouldn't you. Thanks again
