Due to the current situation the Grand National in UK has been cancelled. We normally have a sweep stake amongst the residents, so have devised a game that I can take around instead.
This is one of many free activities.
Golden Carers has 1000s of activities and resources for senior care.

We normally have a sweep stake amongst the residents, so have devised a game that I can take around instead.

Each resident who wanted to participate thought of a name for their horse.

I will take the board to each one with with a disposable cup (that can stay in the room) and a dice. The dice will be thrown, depending on the number the horse will move on by placing a cross in the box and so on until we have a winner!

My residents loved this.we had so much fun, 1st,2nd,& 3rd prize. Residents that don't normally participate loved it. I am now thinking of maybe golf.

I LOVE this idea! We do a horse racing game that the residents love, but only 6 can play at a time and we can't play it now with all the new rules. I can make a "track", laminate it, and go around to rooms. Great idea! Thank you!
