This is one of many free activities.
Golden Carers has 1000s of activities and resources for senior care.
Materials:
Crepe or tissue paper in the colours of your choice
PVA or craft glue
Scissors
A black marker
Japanese chopsticks or pencils with eraser tips
Construction paper or recyclable cardboard (cereal boxes etc)
Strings or ribbons
Instructions (Heart):
Trace templates of large heart onto several pieces of construction paper or recycled cardboard. Cut around.
With a black marker trace smaller heart in the center of large hearts.
Make a small hole at the top of heart and insert a ribbon or string.
Cut crepe or tissue paper into 2 x 2 inches / 5cm x 5 cm.
Using the round end of the Japanese chopstick, twist a square of crepe paper around it and hold it. Some participants may prefer to use a pencil with eraser tip.
Still holding it, dab a little glue on the crepe paper.
Take it to the edge of smaller heart and gently release the chopstick. (See video).
Continue doing this until all the edges of the center heart are complete.
Then fill in the center of the heart by the same process.
Repeat the above to fill the borders of the heart and then continue to fill in the other parts.
Hi, I recently made the Easter bunnies with this activity, To see the shape more clearly I trimmed the curled paper down. The heart shape would be fine with the original instructions. The bunnies are on display and look really terrific. Cheers Karen ( AO) Amaroo Aged Care
