Hi, just trying to get some information on Doll Therapy.. I have a few residents who love holding and talking to the dolls like they are there babies, I have no problems with this as I think is lovely but have trouble with staff taking them away from them constantly and upsetting the resident. So I thought if I could find information for staff on how to handle residents using doll therapy ie. the do's and dont it might make life less stressful for the resident and me.. I have full support of doll therapy from management.

Australian inventions that changed the world

Christine I did this activity with our residents today, we did a combine session with our hostel residents and high care residents and it was great, it lasted an hour and they enjoyed it so much they have asked to have it programmed to do each week. It was a great session that opened up so much conversation and socialising with all units. Thank you so much for sharing a great activity.

This is a great idea, you could even do it on a monthly basis, that way resident may recall the memory a little easier... great idea love it and thanks for sharing.

Leapin' Frogs

Was excited to receive our leapin Frogs and lilly pond from one of our wonderful volunteers made it for us from the instruction I gave from your post, thanks for sharing this. We played the game today and our high care residents had fun, it was nice to hear laughter in the home from all. Our staff joined in as well making this a very successful activity. Thanks Heather

Koala Keno

thanks for this idea, I have been playing koala keno with our high care residents, I find that our cognitive impaired residents find it easier than bingo as its not so confusing with less numbers, I purchased the bingo dabbers for this game and residents find them easier to use... its a great hit... thanks for sharing. Heather.

Picture Matching Bingo

Encourages Mental and verbal stimulation.'
(I use this for residents who have difficulty recognising numbers but still like bingo. It allows them to play at a slower pace.

You need 4 packs of picture flash cards. (large)
CardBoard
Laminate if necessary.
Coloured Milk bottle tops to use as tokens.
Prize for the winner: I have a basket of small gifts they choose from.

small group activity or Great for residents who are confined to bed.
give resident a picture board .
slowly call the picture from your pack of flash cards
residents match your flash card to one on there board
Winner gets a prize:

I often talk about the picture as they are usually child toys or animals so it allows residents to remenicise during the game.
