This went over very well with our Residents. I was so happy to see how much they were enjoying this activity. When we finished up with the story the conversation and reminiscing started. They were also talking about how much fun they had and saying "when we do this next time". Thank you!

Hi Frances, thank you for your kind comments. We intend to release Read Aloud Stories from time to time. Meanwhile you may find similar stories from the Boy Scout’s websites - there is a link further down in the comments section.

I have worked in long-term care/military hospital activities about 20 yrs. and this is the most interesting and informative resource guide I have found. Thanks so much for the insight and information Golden Carers provides. I have begun a Read Aloud book Club, which my small group of residents absolutely loved. I will use this Sherlock Holmes Poisonous Snake story next. My question is where can I find other similar short stories? I have looked all over the internet & haven't found anything but "feel-good stories!" I want detective & western action reading about this same length.

We have school kids come and read to residents and also a volunteer comes in once a week to read, residents really enjoy it....

That sounds lovely Pauline, it's so nice when children get involved. Great for both the young and old. Thanks for your feedback.

I will add this to my collection. The Boy Scouts have a web sites with several audience participation stories that I have used. I divided my whole group (25 people) and several people played each role. They really really enjoyed it. Big success.
