To encourage residents to use their fine motor skills and reminisce at the same time, I've taken in some lego and let their imagination go wild...this was well received. I've also taken in Mr Potato head and in the summer will be taking in some sand, bucket and spades (of course I will do this outside and use water to help the castles stay put). You can also use the traditional flour and water to make damper or a scone mix. These ideas give way to lots of reminiscing.

We glued tinsel and glitter on as well...the Women's Weekly (Australian) is thick and easy to use as well. This is an age old idea and well worth trying. Thanks for posting this.

We also use the idea of Activity dollars that comes from Actitivities2Go magazine. This is where residents gain a 'dollar' in lieu of chocolate or chips (as some don't like them) and when they gain 10 dollars (or points) they get to choose from a huge basket of goodies....hankies, soaps, or any other items suitable from the cheaper shops. It gives them a choice of getting something for themselves or their grandchildren etc. It's very popular.

I made this up with my trusty overlocker...so easy!! I actually made three bags per colour. But with each bag I made an insert one that goes inside the coloured one..the residents helped to fill them. This makes them more sturdy and will last longer. Instead of a backing, I'm going to use some of that non-slip plastic you can buy, to save it from moving around. Can't wait to try it out with the residents.
I just want to reassure you that Golden Carers is worth every penny. I have been using your resources for many years now in various organisations. Thank you, you make my job so much easier and interesting for the residents.
